Ik Onkar (Gurmukhi: ੴ, ਇੱਕ ਓਅੰਕਾਰ; Punjabi pronunciation: [ɪkː oːəŋkaːɾᵊ]) is the symbol that represents the one supreme reality and is a central tenet of Sikh religious philosophy.[1] Ik Onkar has a prominent position at the head of the Mul Mantar and the opening words of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib.[3] Ik (ਇੱਕ) means one and only one, who cannot be compared or contrasted with any other, the “unmanifest, God in power, the holy word, the primal manifestation of Godhead by which and in which all life, move and have their being and by which all find a way back to Absolute God, the Supreme Reality.”

Hindi Meaning:- उनका नाम सत्य है वह रचयिता है निर्भय है उनका किसी से बैर नहीं है अमर है जन्म तथा मृत्यु के परे है स्वप्रकाशित है गुरु की कृपा से (प्रसाद से) समृद्ध है जपो (दोहराओ), वह आदि (शुरुवात से) सत्य है सभी युगो से सच है सच ही है सतगुरु नानक कहते हैं भविष्य में भी सत्य ही रहेगा
मनुष्य यदि लाख बार भी सोचे तब भी वह पूर्ण रूप से विचार नहीं किया जा सकता हैं चाहे कितना ही चुप रहा जाये कितना ही आत्मीयता से शांत रहा जाये परन्तु आंतरिक शांति नहीं मिल पाती है भूखे की भूख नहीं शांत होती चाहे कितने ही व्यंजन क्यों न हो लाखो की हजारों चतुर चालो में से कोई एक भी अंत में साथ नहीं जाएगी उसी का हुकम (आदेश) चलेगा तथा तुम्हे भी उन्ही का पालन करना चाहिए तथा उन्ही के द्वारा दर्शाये गए मार्ग पे चलना चाहिए
